Egg time!:D

wow, ok so my bad on the whole not writing for forever! I am not in my second semester at the University of Arizona and I am taking my first nutrition class! :D I absolutely love it! I definitely chose the right degree. Anyways I figured that notes from this class would be wonderful blog posts so here is to the first one of the semester! Anyways a little background of this class is that I have a lecture every Monday and Wednesday and then Fridays we split off into smaller groups for a discussion, and as prep for the protein discussion tomorrow, I had to do some research on eggs, and what I have decided is that.... I need to start eating more eggs. So one serving size is one large egg. Pretty easy to remember right? so in that one egg you not only get a good source of protein, but this little egg has all 9 essential Amino acids, is a good source of choline (which helps brain, nerve and cardiovascular systems), our eyes appreciate them, and hair and nails grow healthier because of the sulfur in them.... I know!Isn't that incredible! Who knew that many benefits could be in one little egg! But of course if there are pros, there are usually cons.... so on the con side of things..... eggs can attract bacteria easily if they come from a bad source. So getting good quality eggs is a way to prevent getting salmonella, which is one of the most common diseases eggs can carry. If you do not cook the eggs right, not only is salmonella a possibility, but bloating and several other stomach problems are likely. So basically, eggs are wonderful nutrient providers, but just be careful on the sources you get it from/ how you cook them. Enjoy!!
